Time Capsule from Bitter Everythings by Gandhi's Hands

staring at the sea always used to be my fondest memory
before the waters touched my feet
the currents they eventually took it from me

caught me a photograph something to make me laugh
I'll put on my shoes and get out the way
I'll put on my shoes and go home

the longer I wait the longer I take, the increasingly less appetising my bait
but out on your own it's never too late

caught me a mermaid she fell from the cascades but I set her free
no it wouldn't be fair after we don't breather the same air

I made a time capsule and in it she hid
buried it so deep I'll never find it
lo and behold I can no longer dig
I buried it too deep I'll never find it

the place I had been was not what it seemed
and I became free when I awoke from the dream
like a ball bouncing out of a pinball machine
ran out the door couldn't sleep anymore
found peace in the eye of a storm then it tore me to shreds
still pinch myself now and again
