このアルバムは1970年にラリー・ニーブンが執筆したノウンスペースを舞台とした小説に出てくる架空の巨大人工リング状天体「リングワールド」を基にしたものである。
あくまで、「生物が生存可能な人工天体」をモチーフにしたのであって、ストーリー的には無関係である。
あくまでそれが実現された架空の滅びゆく世界を舞台にしている、だけである。舞台内の設定は実現するかを視野に入れていないので、あくまでサイエンスファンタジーである。
