Redoubt is a mostly instrumental album. It was built from spare parts found in Full Crumb’s stash of cassettes, CDRs, sound-files, albums and 45s. It was inspired by all kinds of stuff, but especially Robert Turman’s Way Down (e.g. Lotek and Freedom from Fear); Poland’s McMarian (their Cienie cassette); Sweden’s raison d'être Prospectus 1; and Urna’s fifth album, Osireion, released on Atrax Morgue’s label, Slaughter Productions.


Redoubt opens with Moment of the Shortest Shadow, which combines pulses of radio static with a 4:4 beat and short maqam guitar phrases.

Track three, Jansen Street Mystics, uses an old-fashioned drum machine and choral styled vocals to create a calm, cold atmosphere.

Daylight Curfew, Redoubt’s sixth track, is the album’s longest. It consists of two chords, a carrying-note, and a manually swept filter. The slow sweeps are supposed to capture the sensation of warm, oneiric ‘waves’ produced by pethidine (often used to alleviate shivering during therapeutic hypothermia).

The album closes with Re-doubt - a descending keyboard part with distortion and frequency modulation.

Intrepid adventures through the 4-track cassette wilderness. Emphases on DIY-fi pop, rock, found sounds, field-recordings, short-wave, psych, anti-folk, pro-folk, garage groove and post-punk exploration. Inspired by krautrock, Ramones, GbV, MBV, new-wave, Husker Du, BBC Radiophonic stuff, Von Südenfed - and that's not even the half of it. Bring packed lunch, torch, compass and spare mind.
