Sketches V by Black Elk (Duet) x Konntinent

'Sketches V' was taken from a live improvised performance at the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge (UK) by Ian Hawgood, Danny Norbury, and Antony Harrison. The event was held on the 19th of August 2010 to mark Hibernate's first anniversary.

It marks the earliest stage of my work with Danny really as we tried out some initial pieces I'd been working on and editing for a number of years but had no idea how they would work or sound live, nor prepared previously with Danny. The work here ultimately led to the first long form cello based loops we did with live reel-to-reel looping, piano and tape static, alongside Konntinent's subtle synth twists and turns. It was a lot of fun and ultimately led to the initial ideas that we laid out for Black Elk in 'Sketches I' bringing the series into a perfect loop.

I'm a cultural studies educator, mastering engineer, and current psychology MSc student. I run the Home Normal record label, and am a biennial artist in residence at EMS Elektronmusik Studion in Stockholm, Sweden.
