RUBBER MASK by RUBBER MASK
Originally a Raw Dbeat HC/Crust album that Dave’ made while still just getting clean off a pretty long habit, he recorded the whole album of Instrumental parts himself and kept telling himself he would get back to it and record proper vocals when his voice didn’t make that annoying gravely junkie rasp anymore and went back to normal. That was back in 2017 tho and I just never got the right lyrics to go with it.
Years later I make some very good friends Owen Pike that I met and worked with first and later his Girlfriend Hannah at a show and soon they would be the premier GoreNoise duo act of Flint: „Septic Abrasions”
One day us three were chatting together and we came up with an idea to combine Their Vocal Stylings (Goregrind style Gurgling and Screeching) with my Already Finished Raw Dbeat album, effectively creating a “Raw GoreCrust”, “GutterGore”, “G-Beat”, or even a “Puker Violence”. And No, we don’t take any of those genre terms to be serious at all, let’s keep it that way😇. EITHER WAY we’ve got some Really Smelly sounding Jams that Hit Hard in that D-Beat Hardcore Energy while drowning in them Watery PitchShift-Bloated Gurgles of Goregrind/Mincecore/GoreNoise Vocals that Hannah has gotten So Good at. And of course she’s not the only one, Owen shares the Vox duties with her in this so there’s quite the variety of Howls, Burps, Shrieks, Barks, Gurgles, andddddd watery Pukes!
So all in all: RUBBER MASK is a project I sat in for over five fuckin years before I went back at it and completed it, it’s kind of a Anniversary of my choice to get myself off of Junk and back into making music, choosing one of my favorite genres to play again even tho the people of the scene are usually awful (Crust Punk/D-beat) I always wanted to release This Album and with the Help of My Good Pals up in Michigan, I was able to even finish it with a New Spin on it!
