Zanda funerea by False Place

Once a year, the yanggai (yellow-tailed black cockatoos) pass through Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country, heralding change, spiritual reconnection and the coming of rain. These tracks record a specific moment in time during their, and our, stopover when everything was still, and everything changed.

<< Zanda funerea >> is a time capsule of suburban banalities, archipelagic odysseys and Australian gothic fantasies. Bedroom recordings and sounds borrowed from all times and places combine with warm acoustic instrumentals, textured synths, broken vocals and addictive loops.
