Scinár by Alex Briand & Eyden Zhao

Scinár is a collaborative album between Alex Briand and Eyden Zhao, two composers who met through Concordia University's Electroacoustic program. After getting to know each other, Briand and Zhao quickly recognized the numerous similarities in their musical visions, thus decided to create this album. Its creation began in May 2023, and completed in July 2023. Briand and Zhao manipulates recordings of a variety of acoustic sounds such as interphone feedback, cutting board scratching sounds and sounds made via other objects; as well as using modular synthesis and additive resynthesis techniques to create unique sounds. The styles of the six pieces varies from dreamy drone ambient to intense and aggressive electroacoustic music.

At its core, the only constant of Scinár is the relentless erosion of soundscapes. - Alex Briand
