In conversations with Francesco Corvi last year he told me that he would be spending a few days in Barcelona and that he would be doing a live show together with the Toplap Barcelona collective and that Tidal Cicles developer Alex McLean would also be performing at the event. I've been very attracted to the Live Coding movement, Algorave Etc... it's an incredible community that is breaking the mould in every way. The plan seemed perfect and I didn't think twice.
After the vibrant performances of Francesco himself, Eloi el Bon Noi and QBRNTHSS I was able to spend some time talking with them, and it was Ramon (QBRNTHSS) who told me: you have to check c_robo ‘the music he is making is out of the ordinary’, I quickly wrote it down on my phone and here we are.
Ramon was right: c_robo is out of the ordinary, no doubt he is part of the new future of experimental musicians, in which with a laptop and using these open source programs like Tidal Cycles you can experiment with live coding and access a very flexible environment on a timbral and structural level.
c_robo immerses us in a dark, industrial and deconstructed landscape, full of broken and deep rhythms.
The variety in style surprises us as the album progresses, from the purest experimentalism to the deformation of the dancefloor to the most extreme glitch. An album recommended to those sonic adventurers and lovers of broken beats and glitches.
Many gems are hidden in these 8 tracks.
