"Dream Lounge" evolves over dub-bass pulses, with whispered melodies and delayed drums, as the exotic sounds of an Ektara, weave through like a lo-fi Massive Attack on an Indian vacation.

"Red Door" takes it's cue from African radio station samples, delayed and skewed over a foundation of organ, bass synth, and guitar, pulling you into a world where Suicide and Coil gather around a turntable playing Pete Kember's E.A.R albums.

There are few concocting the kind of ideas that Laird does. Yes, we’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. He is the exponent of some of the best collage psychedelia coming out of the country. And Dream Lounge continues the odyssey.

Monolith Cocktail -

Dream Lounge is a two-track instrumental album of pure dream inspiring glory. The first track, and title-track, is a 15 plus minute journey of subtle dance dream adventure that at no point ever grows boring and keeps you enrapt. It has the same hazy magic as The Smiths How Soon Is Now but with Morrissey’s vocals being replaced with Doug Ingle like organ virtuosity subtly weaving its way in and out of the track.

The Second track “Red Door” is a much more subtly rambunctious affair with throbbing synth bass and John Carpenter like soundtrack feel if written by Coil, and once again a long instrumental that never loses your attention.

empty house is the solo work of Blackpool based musician Fred Laird. Formed in March 2021, empty house is an ambient project that fuses electronics and found sounds with Asian instruments. The concept of the music is to create a dreamlike or meditative atmosphere for meditation, yoga, martial arts or just sat on the sofa staring at the drifting clouds from your living room window.
