So Beautiful from Kaleidoscope by Emily Gray

Lyrics

As the moonlight falls on the old
oak doors it illuminates the bones
of the family home though they're
all long gone and their corpses
decomposed

If you close your eyes in the dead
of night the winds echo their
desperate cries
and the building creaks as the
shadows breathe a story of what used to be

So beautiful
So long ago
Flowers in the garden angels in the snow
So beautiful
So long ago
How could they possibly have known?

One warm summer's day a young couple
came and poured life into those walls again
With the floors replaced and a lick
of paint they marveled at the life they'd made

So beautiful
A brand new home
A swing set in the garden as a new
soul slowly grows
So beautiful
They'd found their home
How could they possibly have known?

As the seasons passed and the air
grew sharp something changed within their hearts
And the floors still creaked and the
taps would leak dripping poison in their dreams

As they watched those two and their
madness grew they knew just what they had to do

iIt was done to them and will be done again
The cycle never ends

One night as the creaking structure
once again thrust them awake
something in him snapped
A single act; the swing of an axe an
impulse that you can't take back
And his blood soaked skin was
drenched in sin
The axe turned itself on him

As the blood ran red and the spirits
fled the couple's souls were trapped instead
Now the ghosts were free as they'd
longed to be the curse was broken
finally

So beautiful
To leave this world
Bloodstains in the garden and now
the curtains close
So beautiful
To finally go
How could they possibly have known?
