Nightlife by Eli Van Sickel

This is another "concept" album from me to you. All of these songs in one way or another are about nightlife and the experiences people have at parties, bars, clubs, pubs, in bed, or sitting alone on a bench downtown. My goal is that these songs and my performances of them are a decent representation of those experiences.

Really, all of these songs are “story songs;” I suppose I look at this album as a musicalized novel. I don’t quite know whether all the songs belong to one character, or each song belongs to a different character, or what. I’d honestly like to hear what you think about that.

If a couple parts of this album seem intentionally "off," it's because they are. Again, I am trying to reflect the experiences we have when we are drunk, high, tired, in love, or any other state of intoxication that is possible in nightlife. What attracts me to nightlife and its experiences is the fact that they are very human, and thus, flawed. Besides, to paraphrase the play "Lion in Winter," nothing in life has any business being perfect anyway.
