The Golem by Electric Brain Electric Shadow

A concept album about despair, disassociation and transformation, inspired by Gustav Meyrink's The Golem and the work of Haruki Murakami. The music is intricate, textured, and dynamic, with influence from ambient, progressive rock, and post-punk. Gorgeous choral vocals show up to add sweetness; microtones show up to add umami. This took me two years to make and is the only thing I've ever made that turned out like I'd imagined it.

Electric Brain Electric Shadow marries the compositional sophistication of progressive rock with the textural richness of ambient music, the dynamics of post-rock, and the emotional vulnerability of alternative and post-punk. The resulting sound is complex yet accessible, attentive to details of sound and arrangement, and evocative of thoughtful melancholy.
