Double Dragon by Dusty Zahrt

These albums are done to pay homage to great soundtracks while doing very little arrangement of the original material; one instrument is recorded for each of the channels of the original NES soundtrack--a note-for-note performance of the original composition (with the drums embellished a bit). Each track was recorded at the exact same tempo as its original counterpart so that it will perfectly lay on top of the game.

With Double Dragon I got to play around with a few effects that I have not previously used on an NES cover album. A few songs required an Octaver on the guitars in order to play the pieces in the correct octave. For some other songs, however, I decided to leave the guitar's natural sound intact rather than using the Octaver to match the original piece, simply because the sound produced was not very pleasing to the ear. Likewise some bass riffs are an octave higher than originally programmed because they didn't sound good when shifted down an octave. There are also some weird pitch-bending effects that were a lot of fun to work with. I hope you enjoy this homage to Double Dragon!
