Dragon Trax enter uncharted territory with the eclectic Soondaze EP, a collaborative release combining electro pop, trip hop, acoustic ambience and poetry

In some respects it's a callback to noughties project The Disobedients, a short-lived collaboration between Sheffield musicians that yielded the original version of Rain Drown The River

Opener "Soondaze (Grandiose And Golden)" sets Andy's expressive vocals against a pulsing electro-pop soundtrack. A pensive and introspective song that asks urgent questions about life direction, regrets and the hope of a transcendent redemption that comes from oneself

Socool remixes the emotive and melancholy "Rain Drown The River" in typically fine style, bringing a dubbier feel to Andy's song mourning ecological destruction and the fragility of human life

Mark SaFranko's tender and shimmering "Sophie" gets a Dragon Trax rework, becoming a miniature loop-based piece of guitar ambience that reminds us of Susumu Yokota's more esoteric work

Closing track "Mahogany And Ice (into The Darkness)" loops sections of Mark's beautiful original track and adds Andy's enigmatic poem to the blend, ushering us into the quiet, peaceful darkness
