Finished in October 2021 but only now getting released, rEpeAt is Digital Empathy’s rather belated follow-up to 2021’s second release as Virtual Apathy. However, despite the wait it all seems to be business as usual as the band go about doing pretty much whatever the Hell they want without feeling like they have to satisfy anyone but themselves.

The record begins where it ends, each song lovingly mixed and sampled into the next song until it all comes full circle with the last song Behind the Wheel.

Beginning the record with the weird thirteen-minute synthwave dirge Fadz Gadget is not an obvious move, but it suits Digital Empathy just fine before they blast into the super-retro real estate.

From the brutal beats of End of the Line to the more upbeat and hooky track 'Where is the Mind' this album’s Eat Your Fish Heads – this is loose and dirty stuff, with the tracks and loops almost buried under a welter of barely controlled distortion and fuzz.

Digital Empathy might not take themselves too seriously, but thankfully rEpeAt rocks pleasingly hard indeed.
