Humandala is the production outlet for Pennsylvania's Chris Simmens. What originally started as a jam band has now become the experimental arm of Simmens' songwriting—but the jam aesthetic lives on in a transcendent form.
Sun Cycles is the Desert Trax debut of Humandala, out June 22. The title track stretches across a psybreaks journey that really demonstrates Simmens' talents and instrumental prowess. Darker, bassier elements creep into “5 to 6,” and then we get dubby vibes from closer “Deep Waters.” Intricate, playful fugues and movements evoke a Shpongle influence, but the complex, guitar-infused stretches make this sound unique to Humandala.

Desert Trax, founded by the Desert Dwellers duo in 2005, and managed by Parmita Pushman is a label that believes in the unifying power of music.
