Signal Path by dead lizard grin

In mid-September of this year, a friend asked me to put together some music for a video project that she was working on with her husband.

Although it seemed like -- for me -- a fairly high profile project, I was initially reticent, but that weekend I sat down, found inspiration, and began working out some ideas. A few weeks later I sent her these ideas as a demo.

Shortly after, I received an email wherein she said about the demo, "It's brilliant. Seriously. We both love it for the film project and as a piece of music."

Just to give her some options, I demoed a few more ideas sent links to these new files.

Then . . . nothing. As of this writing, nearly three months have passed without another word of direction, encouragement, discouragement, or intention regarding the project or suggestions on how to best finish the demos for her purposes.

In late November, I thought to myself, "So much for collaboration," and committed to finishing the pieces on my own terms.

The result is "Signal Path" -- a space exploration, jamming with myself, turning knobs and pressing keys, pushing sound together, creating in the alone moments. I found that it was all about communication, the ultimate uselessness of words, and how reality is perceived, distorted, and how it all ultimately fades into a gray inconsequence.

Created September-December 2017 using synthesizers, piano, and whatever happened to be in the room at the time.

Tracks 1-3 originally commissioned for a friend's film project that never materialized, ultimately remixed with new material to finish them for this release. Track 4 was especially written for this collection after I elected to revive the stillborn film pieces on my own terms.
