David Houston (1935–1993) was an American country music singer, best known for his 1966 hit "Almost Persuaded." Born in Bossier City, Louisiana, he rose to fame with "Mountain of Love" in 1963. "Almost Persuaded" topped the Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart for nine weeks, earning Houston two Grammy Awards. He continued charting hits into the 1970s, Houston passed away in 1993 at age 57.
