Publix by Spielerei

Spielerei is a project by Databloem founder Dennis Knopper. In making Publix he was inspired by 3 decades of electronic music from Klaus Schulze and early Tangerine Dream to later Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Pete Namlook and Biosphere, to recently Pub, Waki, Vir Unis and Autechre. Mixing all these styles and influences together with his own creativity was the ultimate spielerei. "Sometimes music is like a train ride across an unknown terrain ... towards an unknown destination ... sit back and enjoy the journey...."

Initially inspired by the venerable FAX label, Databloem was started in 2001 as an avenue for releasing classic and contemporary electronic music.
Databloem releases have been widely praised for their consistent quality and innovation in the field of ambient/electronica.
