Contemporary identity, two spirits, a language of them. The songs that have fortified my spirits as an individual have never been held by a spoken language...save for the messages that have pierced my heart.

Pop music - so immediate, charged with passion, and visceral - is the medium for me as a composer & singer for this body of work. The femme perspective has always been my teacher and mentor. As I think and wonder about how the mystics of Song have influenced my voice, I experience a collision of worlds.

Throughout 'Both/Sides', I pay homage to these mothers of Contemporary Pop, from the latter half of the 20th century to now: Tori Amos, Björk, Joni Mitchell, Elizabeth Fraser, Robyn, Shannon, and my dearest influence, Kate Bush. These masterful artists have crafted a perspective that is pervasive, mysterious, and duplicitous in its messages of love and desire.

Stripped to its core elements, as found in true chamber-style productions, I attempt to wear these songs and embody their soulful essence.
