Sky Watching by Cousin Silas

Original Notes by Emiliano Pietrini: Sky Watching, album arose from the prolific and compelling inspiration of the Britsih Artist Cousin Silas, is a sonic work which blends gentler beats with oneiric guitar-scapes and evocative ambient textures. The structure soon opens up and allows room for traversing strings of bliss, all the while the diffuse background becomes clearer and brighter. Darker helixes are presented over the course of the tracks, but whenever the effulgence seems to iridesce between unpretentious colors, the majestic guitar layers tower above this soil and retain the solemnity. The widened frequency range is another marker: an aqueously turquoise-tinted stretched tone swirl glows its way through the cavernous vault, gyrating between gleaming hope and austere prudence. Silas' approach of merging these frequencies, decorticating their innermost essences and using these nutritious superfluids in order to create floating nebulas is further refined, or to say it in a less prosaic manner: the unison of the guitar drones and their plinking beats counterpoints regularly turns into something splendidly luring. The reverberated sound quality, the shimmering gradient, the blue tint of the crystalline entities altogether work really well with the highly recognizable guitars and synths. It is this distinctive addendum that makes "Sky Watching" an uplifting trip towards dreamlike multicolored skies.
