She walked through a world not for her
Her clothes hung awry and she didn’t much try
The things that she said were absurd
She had wild sorts of thoughts by the look in her eye

Beautiful mind, don’t let anything dim your shine

Her father, such a kind soul
Knew she’d flail in conventional roles
So he signed her away to read books all day
And dismiss all the useless and droll

The facts and the numbers left her unencumbered
To ponder and wonder out loud
She may have been awkward, not one for the starter
Of joining the crowd
But that beautiful mind, didn’t let anything dim her shine

Now four generations ahead
Here she stands, just a slip of a thread
Weaving over and under, her thoughts a small wonder
And stands with a tilt of her head

Not sullied, weighed down or caught
With the rules and the shoulds and the oughts
When the world and the wars keep on putting up bars
She’ll make hope when others cannot not
