When the adults are talking (and I know they love to talk),
And they stop to spell out the letters of a word.
I am here to share with you the key to unlock
Exactly what they’re saying, I’m going to be that little bird.

They’re not practicing their spelling,
They’re not failing to be funny,
They’re trying to keep from telling you,
About something very yummy.

C-A-N-D-Y spells candy!
C-A-K-E spells cake!
C-O-O-K-I-E spells cookie!
And C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E spells chocolate.

There are other things they try to hide to keep you in the dark.
Some things that you might like to do, they don’t want you to understand.
Like an M-O-V-I-E movie, or the P-A-R-K park.
Or the Z-O-O zoo, keep it on the DL Disney Land.

They’re not practicing their spelling,

They’re trying to keep from telling you,

I see it seems all sweet things start with C.
But I-C-E C-R-E-A-M spells ice cream.

The adults will hate me now, they’ll say that I am wrong.
I stole their only secret. I took their only tool.
The next time that you hear this they might try to skip the song.
Oh by the way, P-O-O-L is for the swimming pool.

So when they try to stop it,
You just politely tell them:
“Don’t you think it’s good that
I am practicing my spelling?”
