Whispered Conversations from Tamburello by Chris Bicknell
Whispered Conversations was, for a long time, a bit of an unloved song. I wrote it back in 2011 before I started gigging again and before Secret Eye. When I formed the band it was one of the songs that was introduced to our first setlist. however, it wasn't that well received by fellow band members as it was deemed too similar to another songs and, as a result, was dropped after the band's first gig. Following that I set back to work with it as an acoustic song and totally stripped the song down, slowed the tempo and used broken chords which turned the song into a very slow ballad type piece. But, it never quite felt right and consequently got forgotten about.
It was about 12 months after leaving Secret Eye that I revisited the song in it's original form and I realised that, actually, the song held up as it was originally written. from there, I reintroduced to my live sets and it got some very positive reactions. This particular recording was taken at a fantastic evening of live music at The Silk kite in Tamworth.
Chris Bicknell is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham. He has been writing songs and performing them since he was 15 years old. Chris regularly gigs all over the Midlands and has, to date, released four albums and an EP.
