Before there was New Pollution there was Chinese Hackers, a vaporwave pseudonym created by lead singer Patrick. After several years of work in the vaporwave scene, Patrick grew tired of the moniker and started New Pollution. “Disco Diversion” is the band’s way of giving thanks to the vaporwave community for its endless inspiration and aesthetic. This remix album was an opportunity to work with influential vaporwave producers and hear their takes on New Pollution’s genre bending punk music. The band wanted to see how their music could be stripped down from rock n roll to its most abstract and experimental elements. From future funk reboots to dystopian soundscapes, “Disco Diversion” is a mixtape tribute to the vast plunderphonics community this side of the internet has to offer.
