There was a dance held for somebody else
Too late for me, I’m afraid
With dancing white scarves for these pretty young girls on the floor
On the floor
 
So what was it for, these decade that passed? 
To find a full moon has given it’s best
To a younger but now older person I find in mirror
In the mirror
 
Oh there are these sages, some men and their pages
Writing of age and the passing of days
Well, no matter how many wise words get written
It cannot increase this time we are given

So dance, dance with a pretty white scarf
Embrace the boys on the floor
Can’t ask what it’s for
All these decades that drift
It’s like asking the Gods
Why do we exist?
 
Oh there are these sages, these women time favors
Writing of ages and loving the stages
While the passing of days
Keeps on ticking away
And old father time, keeps on racking up mine
 
So dance, dance like a pretty young girl
Embrace my youth once more
No matter the days
Keep on ticking away
With the gowns and the boys on the floor
