It’s hard for me not to return to sine waves. They’re like the woman from Africa that is our common ancestor - the root of the tree. There’s a flute-esque chuff to these sines because of FM modulation. FM is something that was used in pop music in the 1980s for clangy, bright sounds, but it can do dark as well. Again, I was listening to a lot of Feldman when I made this and it’s closer to his concept of emptiness in music. The way this is programmed there are moments of silence when all the volume envelopes line up that punctuate edgeless ebbing and flowing of the notes.
