Coloured Funeral by Mercyless
The second album from French death metal outfit Mercyless is regarded by many as their finest moment. "Coloured Funeral", originally released in 1993, saw the band record together with legendary producer Colin Richardson (Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Fear Factory). This slab of death metal perfectly encapsules what made early 1990s death metal so great -- unconventional song structures, original riffs, harsh but natural vocals, and a desire to decimate the listener. An overlooked gem.
