‘Running Wild’ was birthed from the hearts of four great friends who discovered that combining their song-writing talents could produce an album of fulfilled musical ambition as well as being a huge support to the life-changing work of ROTE (Removing Obstacles to Education) in Mozambique. We recorded ‘Running Wild’ in a little cottage in Exmoor, Devon, spending two weeks together writing, refining, playing and recording the songs we offer on this album. Having met in church and spent years playing in worship bands together, we wanted to produce something that wouldn’t smother our listeners with overt Christian messages, but would rather provoke people to sink into the depths of the lyrics and discover their own connections with their spiritual self. Our lyrics are drawn from our own diverse journeys through life, our deeper thoughts, our random experiences and our deep love for God and the world we feel so blessed to live in.
ROTE was set up by Paul and Francesca in 2018 on their return from living in Mozambique for a year. The charity seeks to identify street children who would love to go to school but have no support from family members and gives them the help they need to access education. This includes helping them to obtain enrolment documents, stationary, uniforms and other materials and working with their families to encourage engagement with their child’s education. ROTE is entirely funded by personal sponsorship and fundraising efforts. Caves & Kingdoms concerts are a huge financial support to this work.
This album is dedicated to Colin Lawson, beloved and always supportive father. As a talented sound engineer, he was instrumental in enabling the smooth running of our first concert together.

We are a Bristol- based Folk band, brought together through a mutual love of folk tunes, songwriting and sharing our faith through creativity. Our songs are centred around joy and feature elements of story-telling.
Our debut album has been two years in the making, but after pandemic-caused delays it is now ready for launch. We can’t wait to share it with you all!
