Filament by Catherine Sikora and Susan Alcorn

This recording documents the first ever meeting between Susan Alcorn and Catherine Sikora. When musicians improvise with each other, a space is created that is unique and specific to the musicians who are playing. With Susan and Catherine, the space that presented itself was enormous, with great freedom and tonal flexibility, opening up endless possibilities for expression.

Saxophonist, improviser and composer Catherine Sikora works as a solo performer and with many notable collaborators. In recent years Sikora has toured in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. She was a featured soloist in Eric Mingus’ radical reimagining of Tommy by the Who (Adelaide Festival 2015), and was artist in residence at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris in 2014 and 2020.
