Lyrics
Taliesin
A silent voice, a silent cry.
Before the waves, beyond the sky.
Come root, come branch, come leaf and tree.
Stand up, be strong for you and me.
Before me the mountains, the seas and the sky.
Behind me an anger to fear and to fly.
Over the moor-land and under the ground.
May freedom be sought and may freedom be found.
Down through cold waters t’ward darkness and deep.
A heart beats much faster than claws and teeth seek.
Break free of the river and race through the air.
As talons are sharpened on a cold-steely stare.
Tumbling and falling as seed finds its way,
Till a beak slams the door on the cold light of day.
Like Jesus before me, like John Barleycorn,
Their history a mystery I emerge virgin-born.
Blunted by nine months the anger recedes.
Like Moses the prophet set free in the reeds.
So time can bear children and grant every wish.
Adrift on the river am I flesh, fowl or fish?
No lapwing, no stallion, no leprous white sow.
No longer young Gwion, stand up Radiant Brow!
