This seed was planted a long time ago
I never knew what could bloom, what would grow
But now I’m wondering it is good enough?
The perennial question

I would have left this world when I was fifteen
If I hadn’t been saved by a record playing, by these six strings
But I’ve lost my way again and my reason why
Thought they took it away on a dotted line

But you can’t take what can only be mine
You can have my dollars and hand me dimes
But I can still sing with my hands tied
and I will bloom every time

You say to just make noise, be one of many
You want me to dance, so you can stand in the land of plenty
But the only god I’ve ever known
Comes to me in quiet rooms alone
