Sheboygan by Bury Trail
Named for the notorious dirt path that runs behind the band’s recording studio, BURY TRAIL has just finished its first album, SHEBOYGAN, named for the singer’s Wisconsin birthplace. Twenty songs that cover a lot of odd territory. The Paris music-hall massacre. A couple fighting over their fake statues. A suite about a small-town spaghetti shack. Some tunes are sorta ha-ha. Others pretty boo-hoo. There’s loud guitar, thundering piano, snaky organ and hard drumming, amid wobbly towers of vocals, stabbing strings, swooning horns, woozy harmonicas and, best of all, percussion galore.

Bury Trail is the alter ego of Robert Duncan, a musician and writer who was once managing editor of Creem, working alongside Lester Bangs. He is author of the novel “Loudmouth,” the nonfiction exegesis "The Noise: Notes from a Rock ‘n’ Roll Era," and was story consultant for the 2019 Creem doc. He is a graduate of such illustrious ensembles as the Lanterns, Sky King, and 3 Day Big and Tall.
