Creature by Pileup
Creature is the debut LP from Pileup, recording project and band of Nathan Urbach. Hailing originally from Portland, Urbach has lived in many places since 2015 when the writing of the songs on Creature began. In lyrical themes, moods, and production choices you can hear his travels and various homes throughout Oregon and California. His roots in Portland show themselves in the distinctly Pacific Northwest feeling that the album evokes, paying homage to PNW greats like Elliott Smith, Quasi and Death Cab for Cutie while also evoking similar California to Oregon slow core travellers like Duster. Also along his travels Nathan has pieced together a grand group of collaborators and bandmates from all over the west coast so make sure to check the credits for the album. You might see a friend! Pileup are one of the greats in PNW indie rock already, so pile on now while you can.

These songs were written between November 2015 to May 2018. They were all recorded, a little at a time, from October 2018 until June 2021 within the walls of several different houses, apartments, and studios in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon.
