i'm looking for silence
nothing's quiet
eyes reflecting violet
what a time to be alive but
i'll love you all
until the time comes
to slip away
to disappear
without an honest goodbye
i see the path is clear
the sky burns
while we all ache
there's nothing to learn
there's no will to break
away from this

waiting for the noise to leave my head
but what am i without it?
lost along the way i'm led
but i don't think a thing about it
it's there in the heart
it's so easy to see: the dark
who cares about the rain?
there's no reason to be scared today

it's useless to think
of a wasteland above
or the chapel that sinks underneath
the landscape i dream of
that's swallowing me alive
it's an intricate tunnel of lies
of beauty and cruelty alike
but it's clear to me that i won't see the light

i fall in love with everything that doesn't care that i exist
but what relief to be so small
the sky above a bird that sings its truth, to bare a note to lift
a sign to leave before it falls
how not to think about anything at all and just to stare into the sun
so you hope to die right where you are

i can't shake the sense
that this isn't it
a little too complicated
or is it?
is it just a myth
that life's here to hide?
and we're supposed to live
by its cruel design?
