Sketch Book by Bruce Rimell

32-bit to 64-bit. After a bit of a bad start to the year, as I emerged from acute pain back to normality, I decided to upgrade all my music-making equipment, drag myself into a new world of wavetable synths, stutter edits and high-quality sampler instruments.
I learn best by playing around, and these four tracks are immediate results from that upgrade and play around with lots of new musical toys. Unlike previous releases, there’s no overarching style: from 90’s ambient techno to arpeggiated hyperactivity, they’re all pretty disparate.
This is a sketch book of sorts. Each track is fairly gestural, rough and ready, made in a couple of days or so, and more for fun than to realise some proper musical moment.
Yes, fun damn it! They’re the sound of me preparing for something new. Enjoy!
