The compositions on this album came about as a response to my shakuhachi students’ needs to have melodious and accessible pieces to practise, as a respite from the beautiful but sometimes challenging honkyoku (traditional Zen Buddhist pieces).
Tsuki is also a meditation CD in its own right and can be used to support all forms of relaxation. The scores for these compositions are available in kinko notation and can be purchased from my website http://bronwynkirkpatrick.com/?page_id=774.
Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by Martin Hansford https://www.facebook.com/wombattracks/
This recording was made in the beautiful Kindlehill Performance Space, Blue Mountains, Australia. At times you may be able to hear subtle natural sounds from the environment ... rain pattering on the roof, crickets quietly droning at dusk. All part of a moment captured in time. I hope you enjoy it!
Bronwyn Kirkpatrick began her shakuhachi journey with Grand Master Riley Lee in 1997, after completing a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance. Captivated by the sound, Bronwyn has been immersed in the world of shakuhachi ever since. She has studied in Japan with Kaoru Kakizakai and Katsuya Yokoyama and
teaches shakuhachi in the Blue Mountains, Sydney and around the world via Skype.
