Ports from Grand Brix by Brix

Ports is the first single from Grand Brix, the debut album by Perth band Brix.

At once a slow burning post-rock number and an homage to Two Door Cinema Club’s Undercover Martyn, Ports plays repetitive work-a-day grind off against introspective indie-rock fervour. Ports sets the tone for the rest of the album, tapping into the lost promise of the indie sleaze era, longing for a future that never was.

Grand Brix is a debut album that began as a last hurrah. Jeremy was on his way to Berlin, Thomas to Melbourne (although he didn’t know it yet). With Jameson and Daniel they started a band, although it felt very much like getting the band back together, reconnecting with the music they cut their teeth on. Over a few months in 2023 they played around Perth and Fremantle - at Mojos, the Bird, the Buffalo Club, a backyard - and finally, in the studio with Rhien Tan. Hence Grand Brix, the first of many last albums to come.
