I.
Out of fog I heard you,
said your name

& stumbled like a bear
blind with bees

The air was thin
as if it pierced
an exquisite
honeycomb

From no one’s home I
wandered
into this clay

Lungs filled I fled
till the wineskin broke &
venom bled out over
spring

II.
& I gently, gently laid
the bees in your hand

You swam in the silent
notch of the almond,
air wrung from heavy
wreaths

Till the crystal freezes
until duress draws
a narrow path

in the doubled
grey twining of sky
& branches

Nothing
left inside emptiness
