VaryOkay EP by DIAL.81

One of the final pieces recorded under the DIAL.81 moniker, this EP dates back to 2012. At the time, I was venturing into new creative territories, and the record was set aside. With the documentary FOLKTALES licensing the track "Air Pockets," I was inspired to resurrect this project and finally bring it to light.

This record was never meant to be forgotten. It’s a blend of melodic tones and heavy drums, balancing the spiritual and the physical. Warm, mellow instrumentals intertwine with moments of sporadic energy, creating a dynamic and heartfelt journey. The EP holds deep personal significance for me, featuring vocal recordings of my grandmother, the laughter of a friend's firstborn, my first collaboration with AJ, one of my earliest works with Paul Randolph, and the foundational sessions with Dave Graw.

VaryOKay feels just as relevant today, with its title and themes resonating deeply in the current moment.
