Reading by Baby Weight
‘Paris is Burning’ is one of my favorite movies. Like a lot of other
trans people, it was pivotal to my foundation as a young, queer person.
It was one of the first times I had exposure to that kind of queer
excellence and it was beautiful and transformative. I was specifically
enamored with Venus Xtravaganza: her spirit, moxie, and sense of self
really empowered me as a young queer person. I really wanted my
track, “Reading,” to be bold and unwavering and healing in that way
which is why it pays tribute to ball culture and Venus in particular.
