Woke up this morning, I was feeling lost
I've settled down, but at what cost?
I don't remember what it's like to feel alive

Walked out the front door, looked around
sun was shining, put my feet on the ground
then I saw her, one last little butterfly

She said "Oh what did you expect to find?
with a nervous stomach, that's a warning sign
for a broken heart and a worried mind"
I've given up trying

I feel you fluttering down in my bones
Wanna lay my head down and sleep like a stone
I'm begging you darling, just leave me alone

Been planting milkweed and goldenrod
for years on end, my hands are raw
you know I won't forget what we did last spring
but it breaks my little heart when you grab my guitar and sing
