Echo & Narcissus by Aura Ruddell x Jessica Gallo

Echo & Narcissus is a harp and piano piece inspired by the haunting Greek myth of Echo & Narcissus. In our musical retelling of the story, we explore themes of longing, self-obsession and hope.

I. Mountain: Narcissus [piano] first meets the nymph Echo [harp] in her mountain home.

II. Meadow: Narcissus leads Echo through a vast meadow, stopping at lookouts to admire the view. Inspired by the cinematic music of Joe Hisaishi and Studio Ghibli.

III. Forest: Echo warily follows Narcissus into a dark forest where his favorite pond lies. While admiring his own reflection in the pool, he falls in, leaving Echo alone to grapple with his death.

IV. Waterfall: Echo is left alone in the forest, pondering her fate after witnessing Narcissus falling into a reflection pool. She finds a waterfall, which brings her great hope.
