Have mercy on me, God, have mercy on me
For my soul takes refuge in thee
Until disaster has passed me by
Beneath your sheltering wings I hide

God Most High please hear my cry
Save me from those who want me to die
I am surrounded by ravenous beasts
Men with spears and arrows for teeth

I lie among lions whose tongues are swords
But still I have faith in the love of the Lord
Above the sun, You have more worth
Your glory is shining all over the earth

In distress I was bowed down
My enemies set a snare on the ground
They dug a dangerous pit in my path
But they themselves fell into the trap

So God I praise you all day long
My heart is strong, My heart is strong
I will make music and sing my song
Awake, my soul, awaken the dawn

I will praise You Lord my King
Among many nations and people I sing
Your faithfulness and endless love
Reach up to the heavenly skies and above
