beaming from self by everynell

i’ve always been thinking
why do I feel alone all the time?
am I really destined to be this way?
being surrounded by the loneliness itself
makes me so distant
even though I am sat closely next to someone
it’s so cold
but I’m stood underneath the bright sunlight

somebody told me before
that no matter
how bright the light aches upon you,
there will always be a shadow hiding
behind your back,
waiting to be seen by your eyes,
consumed by your heart
and drained by your soul
like the sip of the sweetest red wine

then the darkness will come,
you will feel like the world
has turned its world back on you,
the coldness and pain

i wonder what else exists beyond this loneliness
