Bend to the sun
when the day has begun.
Let your beautiful face
feel the sun far away.
And, when afternoon's light
starts to hide, comes the night.
Hear the sun's last remark
before it becomes dark:
"All through the day,
although I'm far away,
you are mine to pore over
May to October,
Oh, Tiger Lily!"

Then, comes the cold,
and the leaves red and gold.
You will sink to the ground,
under snow, safe and sound.
Though your season is done
and you fade from the sun,
hiding under the snow
you are resting peaceful.
Then, comes the spring
and your awakening.
"It was all worth the wait,
November to April,
Oh, Tiger Lily!"
