Sputnik's Ghosts by Chris Meyer's Alias Zone
This was my performance for the 2021 edition of Mountain Skies.
Although Sputnik 1 crashed back to earth just three months after its launch on October 4 1957, its ghosts continue to multiply, mutate, and roam the skies. Echoing that thought, this piece starts out in the minimal space music vein...and then takes a left turn into jazzy lounge territory...then turns into a waltz...before the batteries die, and it leaves orbit as well as this world. I enjoyed accompanying and facilitating it on this journey; I hope you do too.
