I started writing and recording these songs at the beginning of the pandemic and quarantine as demos for rabidjane.bandcamp.com songs to keep myself busy while staying indoors. Suzy went to the mainland because she was going stir crazy. This is how I coped and kept myself sane. She left in April and came back in June and almost every day she was gone (and also since she’s been back I’ve written and recorded a song on GarageBand. Sometimes even two or three a day if I missed the day before or if I had the day off from work.
At first I was posting them on SoundCloud but I ran out of free space after 60 tracks (haha)so I started moved on over here. There’s maybe 10 songs form SoundCloud on here the rest are new and I’m adding to the album every day! That also means there are like 50 other songs on SC that aren’t here!
Look, I’m not saying every single song is a winner. I’m the first to admit there are a bunch of madly mixed stinkers In all of these.
I know they can’t all be good, but the good ones are really good i think.
I know there are so many of them that a bunch of them have parts that are suspiciously similar and the mix is bad, but remember: these are just demos!
At first I was playing all the bass parts on my guitar because I was too lazy to restring my actual bass. once I actually did restring the bass I regretted not doing it earlier and I think the sound and the songs got better.
When I first started writing these songs I was playing everything in standard Or just dropped D tuning. After I felt like I was getting in a rut with the songs, I started detuning. At first it was just a half step and that was fine at first but then i started getting bored again. The song I wrote today (7/24/2020), guitar and bass are tuned down one and a half steps. Will this be enough? Will I get bored again? Am I gonna have to get heavier strings?
Also, none of these songs have lyrics because:
1. I feel dumb writing lyrics and usually all Ii can come up with are I / Me statements and lets face it, nobody cares about my feelings.
and 2. I can’t really sing anyway *shrug emoji*
So if you dig any of these tunes and would like to drop some fire on it, feel free!
