O mato queima no Cerrado, a linha do horizonte avermelhou
O rio cortando o pasto ameniza o sol debaixo do equador
A mosca na carcaça de uma cobra que o gavião matou
A casa abandonada e um poço que faz tempo que secou
A noite enluarada traz o frio que dura até o amanhecer
O lobo vai no rastro da cotia que corre pra se esconder
Sentado na varanda de sua casa o homem olha pro lugar
Um copo de cachaça e um cigarro de palha para fumar

The brush burns in the Cerrado, red horizon
The river that cuts through the pastures softens the equatorial sun
The fly in the carcass of a snake that was killed by a hawk
The abandoned house and a well that’s long since dried
The moonlit night brings cold that lasts till dawn
The wolf follows the tracks of an agouti running for cover
Sitting on the porch of his house the man looks at this place
