Standing on the station waiting for a train
Waiting for my chance to come around again
The stations getting darker all the passengers have gone
And I'm just waiting for someone to turn the lights on

That train of opportunity to come around again
I think I missed it last time the ticket wasn’t right
And now I get to stand here waiting through the night

I think the station master finally went to bed
He's left me on this platform with strange thoughts in my head
I look at the timetable that's hanging on the wall
But when I try to read it there's nothing there at all

You told me I should wait here to join the train you're on
But something seems to tell me that that the train has been and gone
You're out there in the distance a long way out of sight
And you've left me on this platform just talking to the night
